Noam Chomsky is arguably the smartest man on the planet right now. He has contributed so much to the understanding of ourselves and to the world.
Noam Chomsky is an American theoretical linguist. His work from the 1950s revolutionized the field of linguistics by treating language as a uniquely human, biologically based cognitive capacity (amount of information the brain is capable of retaining). Chomsky is extremely unique. Chomsky helped to initiate the “cognitive revolution" and gained a worldwide following as a political dissident (actively challenges an established political or religious system). As you can see Chomsky is extremely intelligent, but don't take my word for it, see for yourself.
In this famous debate you can clearly see that even when Chomsky was young he was still ahead of everyone else.
Noam Chomsky's famous quote
You have two choices, you can say, 'I'm a pessimist, nothing's going to work, I'm giving up, I'll help ensure the worst can happen'. Or, you can grasp onto the opportunities that do exist, the rays of hope that exist and say, 'Well, maybe we can make it a better world'. It's not much of a choice. - Noam Chomsky
Read that again! The first time I heard this quote I sat puzzled in my seat thinking about what that quote means to me. The first thing that came to mind was that life is unpredictable. The pessimist doesn't understand that our days are limited. They are unaware that they could go to sleep one night and not wake up. The pessimist gives up on every opportunity, which stops any progress within their life. This mentality is holding them back from living a life they would be proud of. However, Chomsky likes to look at life with a positive mindset. He tells us that there are endless opportunities around us waiting to be taken. By looking at the world in a positive way we give every opportunity a chance and make every day worth living. Chomsky says, "its not much of a choice." This suggests that its obvious as to which choice to make, but still some people choose to be a pessimist. This could be because of the people they surround themselves with. You become the people you surround yourself with so choose to spend time with quality people that will help you shape a better future. Don't let other people's opinion get in your head because at the end of the day the only opinion that matters is your own. Also, if you assume the worst then it is a guarantee that it will happen. You can also have some hope for change and work towards it everyday. All in all, Chomsky encourages us to never give up because time stops for no one.
